Geoff Kiessling
Head 17 Black
Club Owner
Head Coach 17 Black
Web Guy

Geoff Kiessling is entering his 25th year of coaching volleyball.

As an Owner/Director and Coach of this AWESOME Club, Kiessling feels like Premier is one of the best kept secrets in the NTR Region. “Once people find out what Premier is all about, they almost always fall in love with what we are doing here. We Train Athletes, period! Having 25 years of experience, I can promise that we are at the highest end of the spectrum when it comes to training. In an era where name brands seem to lead the decision of clubs, we challenge all that feel the name brand is always the best way to go. Our product is as good or better than some of those with brand names.”

All of Geoff’s teams have qualified for Nationals every season.

“I have been at other clubs and have seen what they do and how they do it. I am VERY THANKFUL for the opportunities provided to me and the experiences I have from those opportunities. But I feel like what we do at Premier is special and wanted to get back to that style of training.”

Kiessling spent 3 years at TAV as a Director/Master Coach and while there Medaled at 8 qualifiers, Won the Tour of Texas, Finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the Nation with 12’s and 16’s. He has also been a 3x Coach of the Year Candidate once at TAV and twice at Premier.

(below is a very wordy bio. If you have 9 hours and nothing else to do, please feel free to read it)

Kiessling has been a part of all aspects of the volleyball game. As a Player, Boys and Girls Club, Boys and Girls High School, College as well as International coach, Geoff has a good idea how this thing works.

Geoff started playing volleyball in Houston, the summer of his 8th grade year. The following year, he helped start the first Texas High School boys league. Growing up a competitive soccer player, volleyball soon took over and became a passion as well. While playing soccer in high school, he and his friends started high school boys teams that quickly turned into a boys league. This was unheard of at the time in Texas, but the High School league had 10 teams represented by 6 schools. On the boys side, Geoff has played with some exceptional players, one in particular, Riley Salmon of the 2008 USA Olympic Men’s Volleyball team that won a Gold Medal in the Beijing Olympics, as well as coached and trained other successful boys players who continued playing at schools such as Pepperdine, Long Beach, Arizona, Loyola and others.

Kiessling spent 8 years as a collegiate coach at Alvin College and Galveston College as well as. While at ACC, Kiessling took the program from the bottom of the Conference and helped to make ACC a Top 20 Nationally ranked program. During his 8 year tenure, he helped lead his teams to Post Season play every year. He helped to produce 20 All Conference, 10 All-Region and 2 All-Americans. 21 of his players went on to play at Major Universities and 2 to play Professional. Each of his setters were ranked in the top 3 in the Nation each and every year. His teams also participated in several International matches allowing him to train with and learn from coaches from other countries enriching his need to learn more about the sport he loves.

On the high school side of things, while in Houston, he coached boys high school teams in the league that he helped start. He also spent six seasons with John Paul II High School (Plano) as the Varsity Assistant Coach.

Club coaching started for Geoff with NASA Volleyball Club in Friendswood Texas, his junior year of High School. The following year, he helped start South East Texas (SET) Jrs in Santa Fe Eight and assumed ownership after a few years. Looking to do something on a larger scale, he merged SET with South Shore Juniors and spent almost 10 years with the club. As Co-Director/Master Coach of South Shore Junior Volleyball Club, he qualified for the USA Junior National Championships 8 times, producing 2 All Americans and finishing as high as 5th in the Nation twice and 3rd at the AAU National Championships.

Geoff spent one year with Texas Tornados. His team qualified for the Junior Olympics and won the Bronze Medal in the 18’s Division and three of his girls were selected as All Americans.

Kiessling prides himself on his technical training.  He has trained many athletes from all levels of High Schools, Clubs and Colleges. He has also trained many athletes preparing them for their International Professional careers.

Geoff also spent many years with USA Volleyball. Geoff was selected for 10 years to train athletes from all over the country in High Performance and Development camps held by USA Volleyball. Kiessling had the privilege to train many years with 2004 Olympic Coach Toshi Yoshida and 2008 Olympic Coach, Jenny “Lang” Ping. He was also selected as an apprentice coach for USA Volleyball for the High Performance program. Geoff was involved in the training of the USA HP A1 Team that participated in the USA High Performance Championships where his USA HP Red won a Gold Medal despite playing up in an older age group. This team consisted of Cal Berkley standout Tarah Murrey, Nebraska Setter Lauren Cooke, Penn State Setter Kristen Carpenter and Hawaii Outside Hitter Kanani Danielson.

Kiessling also helped with training the USA Junior National Team as they prepared for the NORCECA Continental Junior Women’s Championship in Winnipeg, Canada. He also helped with the 2000 Olympic Team tryouts in San Diego, California. Kiessling was also represented the Lone Star Region as a Coach for the High Performance Program for the first 4 years of its conception before being asked to work with USA HP Program.

Kiessling also worked on the technical side of USA Volleyball as a member of the USA Volleyball Events Staff and Committee.

Geoff has coached or trained over 200 athletes who received scholarships to play volleyball in college.

Geoff loves training setters. Some of his setters have received offers to programs like Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Baylor, Ole Miss, Wyoming, SFA and others. Some of his setters have been selected as All Americans as well as State MVPs.

Many of Kiessling’s former players have competed in the NCAA Division I National Championships.

Kiessling was a member of the North Texas Region Jr Board of Directors 2014/2107

Current and active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association
Junior Volleyball Association
CAP Level II Certified Coach
VCAP Certified
AAU Double Coach Certified
Just Plain Awesome

Geoff is married to his amazingly wonderful wife, Rhae (She is an amazing volleyball person in her own right, I mean she has 2 Gold Medals!!!) and they have one son, Connor.  If you happen to see Connor at a gym and you have a ball, you will have a new best friend for as long as you can handle it.

JourneyFit

Victoria Thomas is a 7 year volleyball coach and athletic sports and conditioning trainer. Victoria’s player list includes some of the world’s top high school athletes, NFL players, WNBA players, and professional Volleyball players (e.g. Khat Bell).

Thomas, is an explosive outside hitter that lettered 3 years at Richardson High school.  Victoria led RHS Varsity in blocks per game and she was named 1st team all district 3 years in a row.

Victoria went on to play Volleyball at Rutgers University. Victoria’s most impressive performance was against St Johns University where she hit .625 and recorded 19 kills and 4 solo blocks.

It is of no surprise that Thomas is a phenomenal athlete as she comes from a family whose identity is embedded in athleticism. Her sister Regina Thomas, Ole Miss Alum and Premier Alum, is the first volleyball All American of the state of Mississippi.  Her other sister Esther Thomas is TCU track and field hurdler who is currently a record holder at 4 top “T&F Invitationals,” including Texas Relays.

Victoria found her passion for coaching while still in college at Rutgers University. Thomas spent half of her college summer in Dallas coaching at the All Star coaches camps, with coaches from UT, Baylor and New Mexico. She spent the other half in New Jersey coaching the Rutgers skills clinics at 7 different high schools and the Rutgers Nike Volleyball camp for two years in a row.

In 2010 Coach Thomas coached at Dallas Premier Volleyball club for 2 years, coaching 2 teams a year. Victoria then attended Law School but used her summers to continue to run volleyball camps and clinics to feed her passion for volleyball training/coaching.

This is Victoria’s 4 year at Premier and she will be head coaching 14 Black and assisting Coach Geoff with 17 Black. Victoria’s philosophy “Train Hard, Win,” (#THW) — surrounds the notion that “if you prepare at an elevated level you will perform at an elevated level that will always give you the victory.” Victoria plans to train her players with effective, valuable coaching, and bring a positive, competitive atmosphere to the court.
