*Volleyball facilities in the North Texas area are very valuable to the region. Without these facilities, we do not have enough courts to conduct the tournaments that are scheduled.
In an attempt to make the tournaments more enjoyable for the spectators and make the facilities safer for all attendees, the facilities are charging a nominal fee. By posting someone at the door, the facilities are able to enforce facility rules such as no outside food and coolers. These coolers and the trash from the outside food clutter up the facilities, so that there are fewer places to watch the matches, as well as create a safety hazard if they trickle toward playing surfaces.
Probably the most important reason to have a paid event is that now the facilities have more legal rights as far as whom the allow into the gym. Not only can they monitor who comes in, but they can also decline entry to someone they deem inappropriate.
The fee they are charging is far less for a full day event, than what the schools are charging for a single match. This nominal fee is a small price to pay for a better playing place and to insure the safety of our kids.
