News and Notes

This week is all about Lone Star.

After two weekends of the largest tournament in the world, Premier was able to get some momentum heading into regionals. 8 of our 13 teams managed to stay alive to day 2 and of the five that did not, 3 missed advancing past the first day by a hairs breadth. 16 Black went three in all three of their first day matches but finished 3rd. 15 Black played extremely well, but had 3 of the top 6 teams in the tournament in their pool on day one! On day 2, our teams faltered a bit, but some put a real streak together of good volleyball in the process. 16 Red Jay only missed the Gold by losing to the eventual tournament champions in their cross over match. 17 Black barely lost their must win to go gold 15 Red Annie and the 12’s showed a lot of promise but came up short as well. Teams that started slow finished strong (18 Red and 16 Red Jenna) and all in all we look poised to make some noise in the next two weeks.

The biggest and least surprising news of the weekend is that 18 Black won Lone Star! They punched their ticket for New Orleans in the 18 Open Division by winning the whole thing (even if they did it the hard way). We could not be more proud of that group. Great job Bryan and Erika and great job girls!
